Heidi and I have known each other for over two years now. We met at work and spend the better part of each day together. We live in a lovely house on a quiet street in the town of Matthews, NC which has been engulfed by Charlotte's urban sprawl. At times it's just the two of us, other times we have as many as five; my daughter Jillian is 6 years old now, and Heidi's boys; Tanner and Logan are 10 years old.
We're getting married on Friday, June 6th here in Charlotte, NC. We would love for you to join us. The invitations will go out soon, but I have noticed the mail service is a little slow to cross the border these days so I wanted to send this message out ahead of time to try to give you enough time to make your plans.
The ceremony will be at six o'clock at a beautiful manor, The Vanlandingham Estate, near Uptown Charlotte. To keep things simple, the reception will follow at the same location.

So now that the venue is laid out, there are travel arrangements to make. Charlotte has an international airport (Airport Code CLT), and has multiple flights a day to and from Toronto. All carriers fly here through some sort of connection. From Halifax, there are connecting flights through Newark, Detroit, Washington, DC, or Atlanta. Taxis and rental cars are available from all major agencies at the airport.
As for accomodations, it really depends on what you would like to do outside of the arranged festivities. If you like shopping and a quiet atmosphere, then the Southpark area has everything to offer.
Or if you prefer the excitement of being in the center of it all, there's Uptown (which is what people in Charlotte call the downtown or business and entertainment district). There are a ton of hotels, restaurants, bars, the Charlotte Bobcats arena, and Discovery Place Childrens' Mueseum and Imax Theater. Charlotte has benefited from having the Johnson & Wales Culinary School relocate here from Charleston. The number of great restaurants has exploded, and there's something for everyone.
We'll have links to some recommended hotels on this site to the right.
To give you an idea of the travel times around the city:
- Charlotte Douglas Airport to Southpark, it's about a 15-20 minute drive.
- Charlotte Douglas Airport to Uptown, its about 15-20 with typical traffic.
- From Southpark to the Vanlandingham Estate, it's about 20-25 minutes.
- From Uptown to the Vanlandingham Estate, it's about 10-15 minutes.
This is all I can think of for now. If there is anything I have left out just call or reply.
We look forward to seeing you in June!
Cheers,
Kyle and Heidi
